Why Alpha rather than WordPress + WooCommerce?
Alpha is a CMS dedicated to a single use case: selling an educational program/product in a one-page format with drip emails. No plugins to update, no marketplace to monitor, no abstraction layers that slow things down. The code is readable and hackable directly. For a multi-product shop with stock, choose WooCommerce instead.
Minimum hosting requirements?
PHP 8.1+ with extensions
PDO MySQL, OpenSSL, mbstring, fileinfo, zip. MySQL 5.7+ or MariaDB 10.3+. Apache with mod_rewrite. All recent cPanel shared hostings support it.Is the admin translatable?
All strings (frontend AND admin) are in an i18n DB FR/EN/ES editable side by side in
/admin/content. Adding a 4th language takes 30 minutes.What does the licence actually do?
At install (import path), your key is validated against
account.cms-source.org. Without a valid key, the installer refuses the import. No runtime DRM — the site works without connection to us once installed. Control happens at install time and at renewals.Can I modify the code?
Yes. The code is delivered non-obfuscated, in standard PHP, with PSR-4 autoload. Modular architecture (Billing / Identity / Messaging / Reviews) — you can add a module without touching the core. Security updates use an idempotent SQL migration system.
Are Stripe and PayPal both required?
No. You can disable PayPal from
/admin/settings → Payment. Stripe alone remains functional (and vice versa). Enabling both is recommended to maximize conversion.
